The TPS61088 is a high power density fully integrated boost converter with an 11mΩ power switch and a 13mΩ rectifier switch, providing an efficient small form factor solution for portable systems. With a wide input voltage range of 2.7V to 12V, the TPS61088 supports applications with single or two-cell lithium batteries. The device has a 10A switching current capability and is capable of delivering output voltages up to 12.6V.

The TPS61088 uses an adaptive constant-off-time peak current control topology to regulate the output voltage. Under moderate to heavy load conditions, the TPS61088 operates in PWM mode. Under light load conditions, the device can be operated in one of the following two modes selected via the MODE pin. One is the PFM mode, which increases efficiency, and the other is the forced PWM mode, which avoids application problems due to the low switching frequency. The switching frequency in PWM mode can be adjusted from 200kHz to 2.2MHz via an external resistor. The TPS61088 also implements a programmable soft-start function and an adjustable peak switching current limit function. In addition, the device provides 13.2V output overvoltage protection, cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection, and thermal shutdown protection.

The TPS61088 is available in a 20-pin 4.50 mm × 3.50 mm VQFN package.
